About Our Classes

What to expect when you attend our classes:

Our teachers are knowledgeable and patient.

* We strive for a class atmosphere as comfortable and unstressed as possible.

If the project is not finished in class, you are always welcome to call or come back if you have a problem in finishing it up.

You may bring your lunch or order out.

We have a limited number of sewing machines available if you can not bring one. Please call ahead to reserve one.

We offer valet service if you need help to bring in your sewing machine and supplies. Just drive up to the door. We’ll unload you and park your car!

We like you to come a little early so you can get set up and ready to go when the class time starts.

We offer most of our classes in two different time slots to accommodate the working and non-working quilter.

Class fee must be paid to reserve a spot and to receive the supply list.

*Last, but not least, we’ll have a lot of fun and laughter while you’re here!

This class is a very good place to start! (A beginner class.) If you’ve always wanted to learn how to quilt, there couldn’t be a better time.  Learn basic rotary cutting skills and quilting techniques:  (ex: proper border and binding skills, correct ¼” seam allowance) while making this tablerunner. Barb will help you find success and you’ll be on your way to the wonderful and addictive world of quilting!

Scrap Therapy Project Class: Scrappy Trails

Raid your Scrap Therapy bins and find those pre-cut 5” squares. Big blocks and easy patchwork make this quilt go together in a flash!  Try your hand at a different prairie point binding treatment…or slap on a standard binding for a striking look either way!

Tumbling Blocks

X-Block Creations

X-Block owners and future X-Block owners.  Utilize your X-Block rulers and construct a Venetian tile quilt.  You will be able to determine the size and color you wish to make.  Bonus: Unique borders using this ruler will also be demonstrated.  You’ll want to apply this technique to your other quilts.

We will be using an appliqué block from the Wild Thymes collection by Barb Cribb and turning it into a custom designed table runner by Lisa Miskell. You will learn the basic embroidery stitches: buttonhole, blanket stitch, running stitch, chain stitch, French knot and the feather stitch.

Stacked squares

No pattern needed.  Generic directions for any sized project from placemats to a king sized quilt.  Create a variety of patterned blocks using fabric repeats. The beauty of this class is that you will be able to create a quilt of any size at any given time when you see a piece of fabric you love.  You will not have to try and find a pattern – you’ll already have it at your finger tips! Class for all levels – beginner to experienced.

*Timberline Log Cabin - Class 2 of 2

An embellished version of the standard log cabin.  Learn to tackle set-in seams to create this stunning quilt.  The second offering from Judy Martin’s Log Cabin Quilt Book, this quilt requires precision in rotary cutting, measuring and piecing, and is geared toward the more experienced quilter.  The first of the two classes will be piecing the log cabin block and mastering the “Y” seam. (Don’t let this “Y” seam scare you off. You will be able to master it.  The second class will put your quilt together, complete with pieced borders.  Finished size of quilt: 47” x 47”.

A Fine Finish

Take your quilts over the top by learning a variety of edge finishing techniques.  This class will cover straight grain and bias binding, piping, sculpted edge quilts, prairie points and more!  You quilts will go from ordinary to extraordinary with lessons derived from award winning quilt judge Cody Mazuran’s book “A Fine Finish”.

The total price of the kit will be divided into twelve monthly payments to make it easier for you. The size you choose will determine your kit price. There will be door prizes and yummy snacks each month. 
       
Anyone can order the kit – you don’t have to be a member of the Club.

Heartfelt sentiments are included in every block of this beautiful 50” x 68” quilt. The blocks are simple to construct. Since there are only five basic color families in this quilt, it is easy to make it in your choice of fabrics. It can be made with jelly rolls, or you can cut your own 2 ½” strips.  We can provide a kit also.

Stack-n-Whack

This class sure has been a favorite one! It’s been taught to over 450 gals since we opened the shop.  Once you take this class, you will never look at fabric the same way again.  You need only one fabric to make the 12 different star blocks, plus a background and accent fabric.  It’s exciting to see how each block evolves into a new design.  You’ll be oohing and aahing!  Just you wait and see!
