Heartfelt sentiments are included in every block of this beautiful 50” x 68” quilt. The blocks are simple to construct. Since there are only five basic color families in this quilt, it is easy to make it in your choice of fabrics. It can be made with jelly rolls, or you can cut your own 2 ½” strips. We can provide a kit also.

I bet a lot of you like to read AND quilt! Well, we’ve got a deal for you. We are going to read AND quilt. Each newsletter will feature a book and a quilting block from the chosen book. The block can be made into a pillow, or some other small project, or saved and finally put into a sampler when we finish a specific series by a chosen author. The author we have chosen to start with is Emilie Richards. She has written many fascinating novels about women quilters. Her first book, “Wedding Ring”, is where we will start. Meet Helen, the expert quilt maker who pieced a wedding ring quilt top, only to put it away without quilting it after her marriage ended abruptly. You’ll have to read the book to find out what happened with the three generations of women who touched this quilt. Will the lessons the women learn from each other save them all? Enjoy the fascinating read by Emilie Richards before you come to class. In class, Jean Schild will lead the book discussion and teach the block. Patty Cline from Chestnut Bay Quilt Shop and I are at it AGAIN!
• Join us August 7, 2010 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM at Jones Hall on Leicester Street (Rte. 36) in Caledonia for FUN IN THE SUN, a Mystery Quilt Day filled with fun, friends and lots of laughter!!
• Register by Saturday, July 24th at either shop. Class fee is $25.00
• Door prizes and raffle drawings will take place all day long and there will be a mini quilt shop with items available for purchase.
• Lunch and beverages will be provided by the firemen for a nominal fee, or you can bring a bag lunch.
• Beach attire is not required, but will be REWARDED!! We’ll be thinking up more sunny surprises as the weather warms up…
• Fabric requirements or kits will be available after June 1st. You will want to have your fabrics cut before you arrive so you will be able to start with the first clue. You will be stitching clue by clue!

Bed runners are a new and exciting concept in the world of home décor quilting. Change the look of your bedroom often without sewing a complete new quilt. Sew a bedrunner! (This is an item you add to the end of the bed.) You can have one for every season, or more often if you choose. We will feature one every newsletter. We envision a wholecloth quilt with a color you like that enhances your bedroom, then sewing a new bedrunner everytime you want to change the look. This is lovely as is, or I also can visualize a wooden picture frame around it too. It’s just what it says: A vase of flowers.

This class sure has been a favorite one! It’s been taught to over 475 gals since we opened the shop. Once you take this class, you will never look at fabric the same way again. You need only one fabric to make the 12 different star blocks, plus a background and accent fabric. It’s exciting to see how each block evolves into a new design. You’ll be oohing and aahing! Just you wait and see!
