                                                          May – August 2009

Dear Quilters,
Happy Spring and pre-Summer to you!  I’m really excited about this newsletter.  Of course, I get excited about each newsletter when I write it as I try to plan different things that I think you will enjoy.  I know we all have different tastes and desires in our “quilting addiction” that need to be fulfilled.
We are participating in two different Shop Hops: April 30th, May 1st and 2nd, and June 10th – 13th.  Check out the details later on in this newsletter.
Our monthly sales section is also listed. I really can’t say which is my favorite monthly sale this time, I like them all!  I hope you, as the consumer, will like them too!
We have two events that are happening for the very first time at Mt. Pleasant!  The first one being Quilt Market at Mt. Pleasant Quilting on May 30th.  I will be going to Spring Quilt Market in Pittsburgh.  That’s where retailers go to see, buy/order the latest in fabrics, books, patterns, notions, gizmo’s and gadgets. Well - we are going to have a Quilt Market here in York, New York.  (1st time ever in Western New York!)  The big tent will be in the front lawn displaying fabric from 27 different companies.  You will get to see the fabrics as I see them at Quilt Market and will be able to vote and tell me what your favorite fabrics are. You will be helping me make my decisions. You also will be able to see/buy/order the latest books, patterns, notions, gizmo’s and gadgets!  I will be able to bring a lot of “stuff” back with me from Spring Quilt Market in Pittsburg as I will be driving!  There will be demos, and plenty of door prizes!  You will get to meet Jim Valderkolk who will be bringing this mini Quilt Market to us!  There will be SURPRISE SPECIALS also!  Whew! Sounds like an exciting day to me!
The second event that will be happening for the very first time is: Cancer Survivor Celebration on August 15th.  There will be refreshments, door prizes, entertainment, (plus I might sing a song too), and just a lot of fun!  We survivors need to celebrate!  The York Town Hall has a capacity limit.  Therefore, the first 125 quilters to RSVP will be able to attend.  If we have a HUGE response, I will try to move it to a new location that will hold more people.  I really don’t know how many to expect.  I know some of you wish to keep it private which I respect, but if you are willing to share – please RSVP so we can plan accordingly.  I’m asking each attendee to sew a 6” finished Friendship block & a 6” finished nine patch block of your color of cancer.  I will have a listing of the different colors and directions for the blocks in the shop for you to pick up. The significance of the chosen blocks is: when you put nine patch blocks together with a single square in between, you end up with an Irish Chain design and the Friendship block speaks for itself.  So our quilts will signify friends bound together by a common cause. Pretty neat, huh? Lap sized quilts will be assembled to donate to a worthy cause. If you would like to volunteer to help assemble the lap sized quilts, we will be doing this on Thursday and Friday, September 10th & 11th.  (At the writing of this newsletter, research still needs to be done to determine where they should go.) I will gladly take any suggestions.
As I always write in every newsletter because it’s so true…you are all fun, friendly and fantastic women and gentlemen! I sincerely thank you for attending classes and shopping at Mt. Pleasant Quilting!

                                                                            Sewingly,
                                                                              Barb
